He has 19 years of exposure to the IT industry of which the past 15 years were with Banks and Banking products. He has rich experience in strategizing, planning and deployment of IT infrastructure and aligning it with business goals.
In his last position as VP in a leading Banking subsidiary he was responsible for technology in more than five divisions of the Bank namely their international branches, Treasury and Capital markets, Corresponding Banking division, the Wealth management division and Islamic Banking division.
Sunil has played the lead role in managing a cross functional team for the selection of a packaged solution for the requirements of the overseas branches of major bank with 18 overseas locations. He was responsible for coverage of both the functional and technical requirements in this initiative. For this exercise he tied in with multiple consultancy firms in evaluating and assessing over 153 banking solutions for short listing and doing an in depth analysis of the selected six products. He has banking solution implementation and setting up of the products for regulatory and functional requirements for countries across USA , UK , China (HK), UAE, Bahrain , India , Pakistan , Sri Lanka , Sudan and Kenya . The evaluation included, comprising and of functionality, technical considerations, vendor details, and adaptation into the Bank's architecture / framework. The identified product was negotiated for the enterprise licensing policy. The implementation included adaptations and customization for local development and compliance to regulatory requirements in the nine different countries. He further led the team in subsequently standardizing and centralizing the solution in their HO.
Sunil has a strong development background, managing projects of development of software for the banking sector and the manufacturing industry. Some major developments have been the architecting and management of a core banking package and redeveloping a vendor product for the requirement of a fully functional Islamic Bank in the UAE. He was involved in migrating the correspondent banking business from a support unit to a major business initiative. Sunil has major experience project managing and implementing solutions across Europe and Africa , from central banks to ERP solutions for the manufacturing industry.

He has hands on experience in implementing and customizing details for multi branch setup, limits / collateral management, accounting and GL, money market, loans and deposits, Forex, wealth management, brokerage, investment, trade finance, funds transfer, mortgage, teller, Cash and Clearing.
Sunil Kumar has played a key role in setting up of the offshore development center in India for this organization. He was instrumental in the initiation of the concept and involved in the project till the operational handover. He led a three man team to detail and propose setting up of a captive off-shore development center. This included forecasting the current and future benefits and specifying the project details of setup, location and management policies. Also put into place was a tracking and verification process to ascertain the benefits and facilitate a direction cum decision mechanism till stabilization.
Sunil is a strong believer in leveraging quality and process practices, and advocates strongly for deployment of best practices early in any lifecycle for avoiding dependencies and rework. He was one of the first persons to certify for PMP in the U.A.E. Developed, finalized and negotiated a deal sheet with highlighted the current status the proposed five year objectives and requirements.
